100% Ladies rally

« The Roaring Twenties and the Art-Deco style »

On Saturday 15th April the 9th Rallye des Merlettes took place, organised by the Association de la Montée Historique de Laon. The theme of this year’s 100% women’s rally was the Roaring Twenties and the Art-Deco style in our department.

At around 9.15am the thirty or so crews set off on a 150km journey with a road-book and questions. A coffee break offered by the AXA Insurance and Bank agency in Chauny took place in the Place de l’Hôtel de Ville before reaching Saint-Quentin.

After lunch, two guides invited the ladies to visit the various Art-Deco buildings in the town.
On the way back to Laon, a game was organised in Ribemont.
One participant from each car had to “rebuild” a famous New York Art-Deco skyscraper in the minimum time: the Empire State Building.

The final and prize-giving took place at the Monkey-Bar in Laon in a superb atmosphere.
